The room behind the name
The Fringe Room started in 2019. It was one rented room above a bank in Bangsar. We did 10 minute fringe trims for office workers between meetings.
Since 2019
From one room to eight chairs
Melissa Yap opened the first room with two chairs and a borrowed basin. The diary filled up by word of mouth. The fringe trim, 10 minutes for RM 25, was the favourite. It gave the studio its name.
In 2023 we moved to a proper shopfront on Jalan Bangsar Ria. The fringe trim is still popular. We always do a consultation before we cut, every visit.
How we work
Three things we always do
First, we always start with a calm consultation. This happens while your hair is still dry, because wet hair hides how it really falls. We look, ask questions and agree a plan before we wash your hair.
Second, we agree your price before the gown goes on. If a colour correction takes more time, we stop and explain. We requote before we carry on. You never get a surprise number at the till.
Third, we write down what we did. This covers formulas, timings and how your hair reacted. Your next visit starts from this record, not from memory.
